Star Wars: Smugglers Gambit is a new Fortnite island developed internally by Disney Games and Digital Entertainment.

I made the original models and hand-painted textures for the foliage including the plants, trees, bushes, mushrooms, and roots in Star Wars: Smugglers Gambit, a new Fortnite island that released on August 16th. Jobye Karmaker finished all the foliage with beautiful sculpts for the models and updated the materials, and he also did all the foliage set dressing across the Wilds along with some help from Martin Teichmann. The Wilds is a large open-world area outside the Hub where players explore and take on various missions. The Wilds concepts were made by Jen Mei and Jay Lee. Thank you again to Jobye for making all the flora turn out amazing! Special thanks to the immense contributions from everyone in Design, Concept Art, VFX, Character Art, Animation, Engineering, Sound, and Production Teams. This project is a result of the huge team effort and collaboration across our entire Disney Games and Digital Entertainment teams.

Justin Woodard made the Mothbat creatures based on my concepts. He did all the modeling, rigging, texturing, and animation for the "wisteria" VFX, then I placed them in the Wilds. When players shoot, the Mothbats scatter in whimsical glowing flutters.
